From May 15-17, 2025, three CONCORDIA Academy representatives, staff and volunteers, participated in a Job Shadowing mobility in Dublin, Ireland, dedicated to the evolution of palliative care. The event, held at St. Francis Hospice and as part of the Kaleidoscope Palliative Care conference, focused on “The Evolution of Palliative Care – Where to next?”, with a focus on innovations, ethical considerations and models of compassionate care.

Over the three days, participants had the opportunity to explore interdisciplinary and integrated models of palliative care, debate the emotional, cultural and ethical challenges of caring for seriously and terminally ill patients, and interact with international experts from fields ranging from medicine and social work to contemplative care.

The experience gained during this mobility will be integrated by CONCORDIA Academia into the learning programs it develops for professionals and caregivers, thus contributing to improving the quality of palliative care training in Romania. Key elements taken up include person-centered approaches, reflections on the ethical dilemmas related to end-of-life, as well as innovations in care systems and practices.

Through this exchange of best practices and the deepening of relevant topics, CONCORDIA Academy strengthens its role as a center of excellence in socio-medical training, supporting the continuous professional development of those working in palliative care, without providing direct services to patients or their families.

The participants will organize internal dissemination sessions and adapt the contents in the context of the Erasmus+ iCare project and other educational initiatives of the organization, thus promoting a modern, interdisciplinary and ethical educational model in palliative care.
