On October 18-19, 2024, two representatives of CONCORDIA Academia attended the General Assembly of ANSE (Association of National Organizations for Supervision and Coaching in Europe), a job shadowing experience dedicated to understanding the organization of general assemblies, decision-making processes and reflective practices used in supervision and coaching.
The program provided the opportunity to learn how to plan and host adult workshops, using supervision and coaching to stimulate continuous learning, innovation and professionalization, and how these processes can influence national policy standards and ensure quality of interventions.
Participants interacted with supervisors, coaches and mentors from across Europe, sharing methods, tools and examples of good practice that support work with vulnerable people. Discussions were also focused on quality standards in supervision and coaching and how these can be integrated into both national policies and organizations’ internal standards.
An important part of the experience was the meeting with the International Contact Committee (ICC), which presented its plans for the coming period, highlighting how reflective practices can improve cooperation and decision-making. Dialogues were held with experts from European institutions and other socio-politically engaged professionals on how recognizing the paradigms that influence our thinking and actions can contribute to more effective communication.
The experience also included an organizational management component, through which participants learned about facilitating discussions, voting procedures, transparency in electing board members, presenting financial results and setting strategic directions. The whole experience was a valuable opportunity for applied learning and connecting with the European supervision and coaching network, bringing into the organization useful insights and practices for professional development and strengthening internal processes.
